IRS notices and back-tax resolution
Upload the letter. Within one business day you'll know what it means, how much time you have and what we recommend. If you're behind on filings or owe a balance, we build a plan to get current and stop the penalties from compounding.
Best for: CP2000s, balance-due notices, unfiled years and payment plans.
How it works
Upload
Send any IRS or state notice to the Notice Center.
Triage
Within one business day we tell you what it is, the deadline and our recommendation.
Respond
We prepare the written response, or the missing returns, and send them before the deadline.
Resolve
Where you owe, we set up an installment agreement or payment plan and request penalty abatement when you qualify.
Why it matters
Most IRS letters are routine and have a clear fix — if you respond on time. The damage usually comes from missed deadlines, not the original issue: collection letters escalate on a schedule, and some start clocks on your appeal rights.
Getting a plain answer within a business day turns a stressful envelope into a to-do item.
Which plans include it
The Notice Center is included on every plan. Back taxes and help with a single notice for non-clients are one-time projects, quoted after a free review.
Compare plansCommon questions
- Is a CP2000 a bill?
- No — it's a proposal. You can agree, partially agree or disagree, and respond with support by the deadline on the letter.
- I haven't filed in a few years. Where do I start?
- File even if you can't pay — the failure-to-file penalty is much larger than the failure-to-pay penalty. We prepare the missing years and then look at payment options.
- Can penalties be removed?
- Sometimes. First-time penalty abatement can remove certain penalties if your record is otherwise clean, and reasonable-cause relief may apply in other cases.
- What about an offer in compromise?
- We evaluate offer-in-compromise and hardship options and bring in a partner CPA where representation is required.
